This forum brings together new and emerging authors to explore the role of storytelling in shaping inclusive communities and promoting anti-racism. Through readings, moderated discussions, and audience engagement, authors will reflect on the barriers they’ve faced, the importance of representation, and the transformative power of writing from lived experience.

One thing that stood out to me is how equity in writing isn’t only about who gets to tell stories, but also about whose stories actually land with readers. Even if diverse voices are present, they can still get missed if there’s not enough editorial care, plus the right publishing chances. That’s kinda why I keep an eye on children's book publishers Canada, ones that support authentic narration and cultural representation. Inclusive books can make a real impact when they are easy to reach by the communities they’re written for, not just when they’re technically available.
